The President of the Republic, José Raúl Mulino, concluded an important working tour this week at the World Economic Forum 2026 in Davos, Switzerland. During his participation in business panels and high-level corporate and government meetings, President Mulino secured new investment and job generation opportunities in Panama. As a result, President Mulino was invited to a meeting of Heads of State to be held in Florida in February. At the meeting, they discussed bilateral issues and cooperation programs. Additionally, the agency will put into operation a linear accelerator donated to the new Bugaba hospital for the care of cancer patients. The Prime Minister of the Netherlands, Dick Schoof, agreed on an alliance for the exchange of experiences in the maritime sector and joint combat against drug trafficking. Meanwhile, giants such as Microsoft and DP World (logistics and port terminals), the shipping company Maersk, and the bank Citi confirmed expansion plans in Panama. In the case of DP World, it reported having a great interest in establishing operations on both Panama's Pacific and Atlantic coasts. Microsoft, for its part, is exploring facilitating the licensing of its software and providing computers for schools. President Mulino also spoke with public figures such as heads of state and high authorities from Switzerland, Sweden, Singapore, Ecuador, and the United States, among others. Within these meetings, the President of Singapore promised to cooperate with Panama to restore investments in the aeronautical and technological sectors, as well as to bring the business sectors of both countries closer through a prompt Panamanian business mission to the Asian country. Mulino also met with the U.S. Secretary of State, Marco Rubio. One of these is the increase in frequencies of the European airline KLM, which is already in effect. Thanks to cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency, Panamanian technicians will be trained in nuclear medicine.
