Construction of La Pesita Bridge in La Chorrera Enters Renovation Stage

The Ministry of Public Works (MOP) is beginning the renovation stage of the La Pesita vehicular bridge in La Chorrera. This project aims to optimize road interconnection and strengthen the commerce and transport sector in the area. The bridge will be equipped with New Jersey-type safety barriers, pedestrian sidewalks, and guardrails to ensure the safety of drivers and pedestrians. Additionally, the project includes complementary public utility works, such as the installation of two water valve control structures with concrete wedges and electrical system adjustments. Engineer Alexander Barsallo, regional director of the MOP, conducted a technical inspection to verify the progress of this infrastructure, which will directly benefit the residents of the Guadalupe district. The project was initiated following a request from the community to President José Raúl Mulino. Currently, the physical progress of the construction stands at 95%. The elastic sealing for the connection with the access concrete slabs has been completed; these slabs are 14.50 meters long and 7.20 meters wide. The structure is based on approved soil studies by the MOP's National Directorate of Studies and Designs, ensuring stability on the La Pesa riverbed. The final phase involves general renovation with painting and the installation of the remaining guardrails. Currently, construction of trapezoidal gutters is underway on both sides of the accesses for rainwater drainage. The new infrastructure includes 18 piles (9 for each abutment) and six concrete slab beams, each 14 meters long. The project is being carried out by the construction company NOVA, under the technical supervision of MOP personnel.
