The Ministry of Public Works (MOP) is making significant progress on the rehabilitation project of the La Villa–Macaracas road in the province of Los Santos, with a physical completion of 53.6% to date. This infrastructure project is considered a high priority for the local population, as it modernizes one of the region's main arteries. In addition to the asphalt paving on the main road, the scope of the work includes the construction of 11 vehicle bridges and substantial improvements on various branches. According to institutional authorities, the rehabilitation positively impacts the local economy by facilitating the transport of goods and services, providing communities with modern and safe access that benefits thousands of users daily. Work crews have proceeded with the application of approximately 18,700 tons of hot asphaltic material, achieving the first 20 kilometers of this important road. The regional director of MOP, Iván Espino, highlighted that the project is progressing at a good pace through private contracting, with the primary objective of ensuring efficient connectivity between the districts of Los Santos and Macaracas.
