The goal is to advance in remote areas that still await solutions. The financing comes from balances collected in cash and at banks, deposited in the Single Treasury Account (CUT) of the National Bank of Panama. The funds will be used to reinforce the 2026 investment budget. The entire amount will go to the First Phase of the 'Construction of Zarzos Bridges' Project in hard-to-reach communities. Additionally, the Ministry of Economy and Finance was authorized to present the resolution before the Budget Commission of the National Assembly and carry out the corresponding coding for its execution. The Council of Ministers approved an extraordinary additional credit of B/.17,889,987.00 in favor of the Ministry of Public Works (MOP). This decision was established in Resolution No. 16-26. Zarzos bridges are structures that connect communities where people currently cross rivers on foot.
Panama allocates $17.8 million for bridge construction in remote areas
The Panamanian government has approved an extraordinary credit of over 17 million balboas to finance the project for building bridge structures in hard-to-reach communities. The funds will be allocated to the first phase of the project in 2026.
