Cobre Panamá opens 1,000 jobs for Panamanians

Panamanian talent continues to be incorporated into the care and maintenance activities of the Cobre Panamá mine, approved for 2025 within the Safe Management Plan (SMP). "We receive around 200 resumes daily in our offices and emails, so this platform aims to facilitate the process for both applicants and the management of applications," stated Maru Gálvez, Public Relations Manager of Cobre Panamá. Over the past six months, more than 900 Panamanians have joined the activities outlined in the SMP, including talent from communities near the operation. This has helped maintain technical capabilities and employment opportunities in the region. The company also highlighted the growing participation of women within the project, with more women integrating into various technical and professional areas of an industry historically dominated by men. The initiative also seeks to highlight the role of Panamanian talent in an operation that integrates thousands of workers across multiple technical and professional disciplines, reaffirming the commitment to continue strengthening local capabilities and expanding job opportunities for Panamanians. Currently, 2,000 Panamanians are part of these efforts, which have allowed for maintaining technical skills, jobs, and essential functions while the project's preservation tasks are carried out. In this context, the company announced the launch of "Suma Tu Talento," an initiative that opens 1,000 job positions to the public to support the work outlined in the Safe Management Plan. All individuals interested in joining the mining industry are welcome to explore these opportunities. These hires are part of the authorized care and maintenance activities and are not related to the mine's reactivation. Through this digital platform, anyone interested can view the required profiles, requested experience, job functions, and locations where professionals and technicians are needed, all accessible from a computer or mobile phone. Vacancies can be viewed directly on the official First Quantum Minerals careers portal: https://www.first-quantum.com/es/carreras/unase-a-nosotros/ The opportunities include positions in areas such as equipment operation, maintenance, metallurgy, environment, industrial safety, logistics, engineering, and technical support, among other specialties that make up a modern mining operation. "Panamanian talent has been key to maintaining the technical capabilities of the operation during this stage."
