International agency Sustainable Fitch has awarded Empresa de Transmisión Eléctrica S.A. (ETESA) an 'Excellent' rating for its green bond issuance framework. This affirms the robustness and transparency of the company's sustainable investments. The independent opinion was issued by the São Paulo and Mexico City-based international unit of Sustainable Fitch, which evaluated the framework designed by ETESA to finance electricity transmission projects aligned with environmental, social, and governance (ESG) criteria. According to the report, the framework meets international standards and enables investments to be channeled into initiatives that contribute to the United Nations' goals, particularly in sustainable energy infrastructure and environmentally responsible development. This well-deserved rating from the agency reaffirms ETESA's direction and commitment as a company focused on developing projects with sustainable financing, framed in transparency, operational profitability of the electricity transmission system, and respect for the environment. Sustainable Fitch considers that transactions under this framework are aligned with the International Capital Market Association's (ICMA) Green Bond Principles. The issuance of bonds for existing and new projects will allow for investment in 'infrastructure and technologies that facilitate the maintenance and expansion of the capacity to transmit electricity from renewable sources in the country'.
