The Panamanian Association of Hotels (APATEL) and the Ministry of Education (MEDUCA) have signed a letter of intent with the aim of raising the quality of tourism training in Panama.
In this initial phase, the project involves 16 educational centers and 18 hotels affiliated with APATEL, strategically distributed across several provinces. This synergy seeks to ensure that academic training effectively responds to the real needs of an industry considered a strategic pillar for the country's economy and international projection.
To guarantee the success of this cooperation, a joint Technical Commission will be created, composed of representatives from MEDUCA and APATEL. This body will be in charge of planning, coordinating, and monitoring the training actions, ensuring that the programs remain aligned with the current demands of the global tourism industry.
For the signatories of the agreement, this collaboration represents a significant advance towards an educational model connected with the productive reality.
Through the implementation of the "Adopta tu Escuela" program, both entities seek to establish a direct link between the private sector and the public education system, strengthening the technical competencies of high school Tourism students.
The initiative is based on three fundamental axes: practical education, generation of job opportunities, and integration of the private company as an ally of the training process.
In the province of Panama, institutions such as Richard Neumann, Isabel Herrera de Obaldía, and Bolívar Commercial Institute participate; in Chiriquí, the Pablo Emilio Corsen College and Francisco Morazán are integrated; while in Coclé, Colón, and Herrera, the IPT of Río Hato, the José Guardia Vega College, and the Plinio Moscoso Institute participate, respectively.
The agreement establishes that the hotel sector will provide technical support to update the students' competencies and renew the teaching methodologies applied by the teachers.
