A shooting this Monday in the province of Colón left two people injured, an incident that is already under investigation by police intelligence and the Public Ministry, amidst the long Mother's Day weekend.
The first violent incident occurred in the Jehovah is My Pastor housing complex, in the community of Los Lagos, district of Cristóbal Este, where a man identified as Aníbal Villarreta, alias "Pulpo", was shot in the left calf by an unidentified assailant. Villarreta was immediately transferred to a medical emergency room for treatment.
Later, on Sunday night, in the Las Acacias area, community of Villa del Caribe, also in Cristóbal Este, 29-year-old Ignacio Gómez was shot. The attack occurred while he was on Fourth Street, when armed individuals arrived unexpectedly and opened fire without warning, hitting him in several parts of the body. Gómez was also taken to the emergency room, where he was treated by the on-duty medical staff. Authorities are keeping an open investigation into these two violent incidents, which closed the Sunday with blood and tension on the Atlantic coast.
