Panama's Ministry Suspends Road Work for Carnival

The Ministry of Public Works (MOP) announced that it will suspend work on several roads in the country so that people can travel without so many traffic jams and dangers on the road during the carnival days. The decision aims to clear the busiest routes, where the flow of cars increases sharply during these days. The measure starts from 12:01 a.m. on Friday, February 13, 2026, and remains in effect until 12:01 a.m. on Thursday, February 19, 2026. It is for almost six days that the machinery will be put away and the roads under rehabilitation will be left free for the parade of cars heading to the interior or returning to the city. Among the areas where work is stopped are the Pan-American Highway, from La Espiga de La Chorrera to Paso Canoas, and also from the intersection with the Southern Corridor to Las Garzas de Pacora. In the capital, the pause applies to the Transistmic Highway, Avenida Balboa, José Agustín Arango, José María Torrijos, Ricardo J. Alfaro (Tumba Muerto) and Avenida Israel. The MOP assured that during those days the signage will be maintained on all projects, to avoid accidents and protect both drivers and pedestrians. The idea is that the one who goes to the carnival arrives and returns without scares on the road.
