Strong Winds Down Trees, Cause Damage in Chiriquí

Authorities have urged people to report sick or at-risk trees to prevent tragedies. Meanwhile, affected residents are demanding adaptation plans and preventive work. In the last few hours, fallen trees and structural damage have been reported at several points in the province of Chiriquí, especially in Las Lomas, Pablos Nuevo, and David, due to strong winds. The call was clear: to take extreme safety measures, take shelter in safe places, and avoid exposure to falling branches or loose objects. Fallen utility poles and compromised power lines have also been reported. Neighbors recounted that the winds even downed soursop trees. They say it's the same story every season and that the danger remains, latent. Some trees fell onto cables and roads, leaving areas without power and creating a risk for those traveling through. Several families were left exposed to the force of the weather. The National System for Civil Protection (Sinaproc) warned that these are seasonal winds, but they have been intensified.
