Panama Transport Unit Fined for Hiding Discount Information

This raised alarms for the entity, which conducted a verification in the province of Bocas del Toro. During the inspection, Acodeco staff confirmed that the unit failed to comply with the provisions of Law 6 of 1987 and Law 134 of 2013, regulations that require informing about the 30% discount for people with disabilities, retirees, pensioners, and seniors. Due to this omission, officials notified the person in charge and applied the corresponding economic sanction, as established by current regulations. A transport unit on the Changuinola–David route was sanctioned by Acodeco after verifying that it did not have visible signs with the service fare or notices about legal discounts for users. The action came after a consumer complaint, alerting that the vehicle did not display the mandatory information for users of interurban public transport. The entity reiterated that all operators must keep the information visible so that users are aware of their rights when boarding the service.
