The President of the Supreme Court of Justice, María Eugenia López, inaugurated a Sensitization Day on the Human Rights of Women Deprived of Liberty, organized by the General Directorate of the Penitentiary System and the Ministry of Government. In her speech, the magistrate expressed her commitment to ensuring access to justice for individuals or groups in vulnerable conditions.

"Three (3) talks have been designed especially for you, in order for you to know your rights as women and how these can be exercised in all areas of your life, even during this period of deprivation of liberty," highlighted María Eugenia López. The President of the Supreme Court emphasized the importance of women deprived of liberty understanding their rights in order to make informed decisions about their future.

The inaugurated activity is framed within the process of social reintegration, contributing to the reintegration of women into society. María Eugenia López underscored the Supreme Court's commitment to the human rights of women and the compliance with the UN Bangkok Rules, urging improvements in the conditions of those who are deprived of liberty.

"Today we will learn how to strengthen the special bond between mothers and children, even when physical distance poses a challenge," mentioned the magistrate, referring to the crucial role of women as mothers, daughters, and wives. Additionally, topics related to the prevention of violence and the protection of women in vulnerable situations were addressed.

The President of the Supreme Court highlighted the importance of women deprived of liberty knowing their rights and how to access justice. She also expressed her gratitude to the General Directorate of the Penitentiary System, the Ministry of Government, and the Minister for the support provided. The collaboration between different state bodies was highlighted as an example of generating positive results.
