The Ministry of Agricultural Development (MIDA) confirmed a case of rabies in the province of Los Santos, after nearly three years without any diagnosed cases of this disease in the area.
According to MIDA, the affected patient is a cattle in the region. Authorities are taking measures to contain the spread of rabies in the province, including the vaccination of animals in areas close to the infection focus.
MIDA reminded cattle producers of the importance of keeping their animals' vaccinations up to date to prevent outbreaks of diseases such as rabies. This situation serves as a reminder of the need to maintain prevention measures in the livestock sector to protect the health of animals and the population in general.
"It is essential for cattle producers to be attentive to the health of their animals and to follow vaccination recommendations to prevent the spread of diseases such as rabies," stated a MIDA spokesperson.
