The director of the Social Security Fund, Dino Mon Vásquez, reported on the opening of the bidding process for 22 lines of medications that would complement previous purchases and optimize the supply for patients. The CSS conducted the second call for the acquisition of medications, amounting to $4,746,316, with the participation of 24 interested companies.
In this new stage, the inventory system implemented in the CSS has proven its effectiveness, achieving a 92% real supply rate in the pharmacies of the various executing units. According to Mon Vásquez, vital medications such as those related to blood pressure, diabetes, common colds, and antibiotics are available for the insured to continue their treatments in a timely manner.
In the call directed by the National Procurement Directorate, proposals were received for all lines, suggesting the availability of medications in the coming months. Specifically, important medications such as Azithromycin, Sodiumpenicillin, Factor VIII, and Zolpidem, which had received no offers in the previous call in October of last year, are expected to be available.
Mon Vásquez highlighted the relevance of this process by following the same supply criteria as the Ministry of Health, in line with an agreement with the United Nations (UN). The Board of Directors of the CSS recently approved the use of the modern Logistics Administration System for Medicines and Supplies (SALMI), donated by the UN, to organize the inventory and project the institution's supply needs.
