The Inter-American Court of Human Rights conducted an inspection at the Lajas Blancas migration station, located in Darién, to evaluate various aspects such as medical attention, supply of drinking water, mental health services, nutrition, and respect for the dignity of migrants. This tour was done in collaboration with the Ministry of Health.

During this visit, special emphasis was placed on the quality of medical care provided to migrants, the availability of drinking water, the mental health conditions they are in, the nutrition they receive, and, fundamentally, the humane and respectful treatment of these individuals who are in a vulnerable situation.

As part of this inspection, a hearing was held with 83 individuals who are detained for alleged crimes against collective security, damages, injuries, and other causes.
