During the Carnival festivities, the Dr. Arnulfo Arias Madrid Hospital Complex will reinforce its Emergency service with the addition of 10 additional specialist doctors due to the Institutional Green Alert that will be in effect. From Friday, February 28 at 12:00 p.m. until Wednesday, March 5 at 7:00 a.m., this measure will be implemented to address a possible increase in health services demand.
The head of the Emergency service, Dr. Hilda Sánchez, pointed out that six-hour shifts will be established with teams consisting of general practitioners, specialists, internists, emergency physicians, and nurses. During this festive period, a total of 50 general practitioners and 28 specialists, including the 10 reinforcements, will be providing care.
The Green Alert is activated as preparation for any contingency scenario that may result in an increase in patients, so all collaborators must be alert and available to respond to emergency calls on their cell phones. During the carnival, cases of excessive alcohol consumption, sunburn, cardiovascular diseases, heart attacks, decompensated chronic diseases, and gunshot wounds and trauma are expected.
The Emergency Room of the Hospital Complex is equipped with the necessary supplies to handle any situation that arises during this festive period, assured the head of this department.
