The Association of Doctors, Dentists, and Related Professionals of the Social Security Fund (AMOACSS) reaffirmed its position against any unification with the Ministry of Health (MINSA) that jeopardizes the stability of the CSS and compromises its assets. In this regard, the union expressed its firm opposition to any attempt at privatization, defending a fair and sustainable pension system.
AMOACSS announced that in the coming months it will promote a strategy of outreach and dialogue with various sectors to ensure that decisions related to social security are made transparently and for the benefit of the population. This stance is based on the premise that the CSS belongs to the workers and that any reform must safeguard its stability.
During a meeting in which the draft law 163 was analyzed, which proposes modifications in the structure and management of the CSS, AMOACSS delegates expressed their rejection of measures they believe could affect the rights of insured individuals or weaken the financial autonomy of the institution. In this sense, they emphasized their focus on a health system that prioritizes the well-being of patients and the dignity of workers.
Josué Morales officially assumed the position of Secretary General of AMOACSS, succeeding Dr. Fernando Castañeda, who will now hold the position of Secretary of Defense. In his first speech as the leader of the union, Morales firmly stated that "No one will strip the Social Security Fund of its assets."
