Carnival Security Operations Yield Over 80 Arrests

During the Carnival festivities in Panama, authorities captured nearly 84 individuals with pending legal cases. Emergency services dealt with numerous incidents, highlighting public safety measures.


During the recent Carnival celebrations in Panama, various figures related to security in the country were reported. Among them, 31 emergency cases were attended to in different locations, as well as 355 traffic accidents with a total of 121 people injured and four deceased. Additionally, 9,031 infractions were imposed, with excessive speed and drunkenness being the main causes.

The Ministry of Environment deployed the operation "Guardians 2025" to protect ecosystems and protected areas during the festivities. Unfortunately, the death of four people in traffic accidents was reported. On the other hand, the National Police and other security forces carried out operations at various key points, checking thousands of people, vehicles, and boats, as well as conducting citizen verifications to prevent crimes.

The Senan reported the capture of an individual in possession of a firearm and illegal substances, and continues with search and rescue operations at Playa Venado following the disappearance of a man who was trying to save his son. Regarding migration, checks were carried out during festivities and at control points, finding 212 cases of migration infringements.

The Sinaproc reported an influx of more than 21,957 visitors to beaches and 59,640 in festive areas. In terms of security, 84 people with pending cases with justice were captured, and patrols for monitoring and addressing various environmental emergencies, fires, and illegal hunting incidents were conducted.

In terms of emergency response, SUME 911 attended to 544 ambulance dispatches related mostly to accidents and health issues, while the Fire Department responded to 472 emergencies, including fires and wildlife rescues. They highlighted a 50% reduction in wildfires compared to last year.

Authorities expressed their commitment to citizen safety and thanked the cooperation of the population during the Carnival celebrations of 2025.
