Health Update: Dengue Cases Reach Over 4,000 in Panama

As of week 13 of 2025, Panama has recorded over 4,000 cases of dengue. The Ministry of Health urges citizens to eliminate mosquito breeding sites to prevent vector-borne diseases.


Health Update: Dengue Cases Reach Over 4,000 in Panama

In 2025, two cumulative cases of Chikungunya have been reported, with five cumulative cases up to week 13 of the current year. Regarding Leishmaniasis, 41 cases were reported in epidemiological week No. 13, totaling 22 cumulative cases in 2025. Concerning the Botfly in humans, one case has been reported this week, raising the total cases in 2025 to 3,923.

On the other hand, the Oropouche Virus disease has reported 6 cases in week 13, accumulating 28 cases in 2025. Mpox (Monkeypox) has not presented any cases so far this year. As for Severe Acute Respiratory Infections (SARI), 383 cases have been reported this week and a total of 4,465 in 2025.

Regarding Dengue, a total of 4,024 cases have been recorded nationwide up to epidemiological week No. 13. The Ministry of Health has emphasized the importance of eliminating mosquito breeding sites to prevent vector-borne diseases.

Regarding other diseases, in week 13 of the current year, no cases of Hantavirus Fever have been reported, but one case from the previous week was updated, totaling 4 cases in 2025. For Hantavirus Pulmonary Syndrome, no cases were reported in week 13, with a total of 3 cases recorded in 2025. In the case of Leptospirosis, no cases have been reported in epidemiological week 13 of 2025, with an updated total of 286 cases.

The Ministry of Health, through the Epidemiology Department, provided detailed data on various diseases in epidemiological week No. 13 of 2025, urging the population to collaborate in eliminating mosquito breeding sites to prevent the spread of diseases such as Zika, Dengue, Chikungunya, Leishmaniasis, Malaria, Hantavirus, Leptospirosis, Botfly in humans, and respiratory infections. Regarding Zika, no cases have been reported in week 13 of 2025 and 2024, with updates on cases from previous weeks.
