The National System of Civil Protection (SINAPROC) has issued a call for caution for people planning to visit the beaches in the coming days, due to a warning from the Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology of Panama (IMHPA). The institute forecasts an increase in wind intensity and waves in Panama's Caribbean region. This situation will extend from today, Tuesday, November 11, to Thursday, November 13.
The phenomenon is due to the advance of a cold front over the country, which will generate strong breakers, rip currents, and greater risks for bathers, fishermen, small boats, and coastal communities.
The areas under surveillance are:
* **Western Caribbean:** Bocas del Toro and north of Veraguas, with waves of 1.5 to 2.0 meters and winds between 20 and 35 km/h. * **Central Caribbean:** Colón, Costa Abajo, Centro, and Costa Arriba, with waves of 1.0 to 2.0 meters and winds between 20 and 30 km/h. * **Eastern Caribbean:** Comarca Guna Yala, with waves of 1.5 to 2.8 meters and winds between 20 and 30 km/h.
In case of emergency, SINAPROC has activated the contact lines 911 or 520-4426 for immediate assistance.
