In 2025, Panama recorded over 5000 complaints of crimes against freedom and sexual integrity, an 8% increase from the previous year. The main offenses are rape and statutory rape.

In 2025, there has been an 8% increase in complaints compared to 2024. According to the latest statistical report from the Public Ministry, over five thousand complaints related to crimes against freedom and sexual integrity have been filed nationwide. As of October 31 of this year, the report registered 4,884 complaints related to rape and other sexual offenses, while 374 were related to crimes of corruption of minors, commercial sexual exploitation, and other conduct. Of the total sexual offense complaints, the majority correspond to specific offenses: rape with 1,943 complaints, and statutory rape (sexual access with a person over 14 and under 18 years of age) with 1,790. There are other specific offenses, such as lewd acts (881 complaints) and doubly aggravated rape (230), which report a considerable number of cases. For the same period in 2024, 5,614 complaints for crimes against freedom and sexual integrity had been reported; that is, 356 more cases than in 2025. Veraguas is the province that has had the greatest increase in cases.
