Just one day after opening, the newly opened José Félix Espinosa Barroso Hospital is already celebrating a historic moment: the birth of its first baby, confirming that the new health facility got off to a great start.

The hospital was inaugurated on November 27 by President José Raúl Mulino and Minister of Health Fernando Boyd Galindo. The event brought together authorities, officials, and residents who had long awaited a project of this magnitude in the region.

Even so, its impact is already being felt: more than 117,000 residents of Bugaba, Tierras Altas, Barú, and nearby communities will benefit from faster, more modern, and more accessible healthcare.

According to the medical staff, both the baby and her mother, a resident of Bugabita, are in excellent condition. The baby's picture is not shown for privacy reasons.

The baby girl was born at 9:17 p.m., weighing 2.8 kg, attended by the medical team operating during this initial phase. For its first 90 days, the center will only offer emergency services while gradually opening specialties and medical areas.
