On Thursday, December 4th, the first baby was born at the new Dr. Manuel Amador Guerrero Hospital, located behind the Policlínica Hugo Spadafora in the corregimiento of Cristóbal Este, in the province of Colón. The birth occurred in the morning when the medical staff attended the delivery in these newly inaugurated facilities, equipped with cutting-edge technology to provide modern and safe care. According to the Social Security Fund (CSS), the baby was born at 9:30 a.m., and both the mother and child remain under medical care at the new hospital center until they are discharged. This birth takes place amid the progressive transfer of the emergency service to the new hospital, a project long-awaited by the community of Colón for years. First, a mock move was carried out, followed by the official start of the transfer from the emergency room. The plan involves the complete migration of all services to these new spacious facilities, now managed by the Social Security Fund, a project driven by the Ministry of Health and delivered for operation in this administration. A new hospital, a new beginning… and a boy was the one to write the first chapter of this history.
