Panama - A total of 2,884 traffic accidents have been attended by the Honorable Fire Corps of Panama (BCBRP) with 15 days left until the end of 2025. This reflects an increase of 77 cases compared to the figure reported at the end of 2024, which was 2,807. These statistical figures are concerning, as it is expected that by December 31, the units of the Operations Directorate for Extinguishing, Search, and Rescue (DOEXBURE) will attend to many more cases. In the face of this scenario, the firefighters have issued a series of recommendations for drivers to try to mitigate the incidence of accidents on the roads. These include: respecting speed limits, wearing seatbelts, avoiding driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, maintaining a safe distance, and paying attention to the road. Regarding the vehicle, they recommend: periodically checking brakes, lights, tires, and steering systems; not overloading the vehicle, respecting the maximum capacity of passengers and cargo; and keeping the vehicle clean and free of objects that could obstruct visibility.
