With the start of the dry season and the increase in visitors to beaches, rivers, and resorts in the province, the National Civil Protection System (Sinaproc) in Veraguas is maintaining preventive surveillance at the most crowded points. The objective is to reduce risks and prevent accidents that could cost bathers their lives. The authorities called on the public to adopt safety measures when enjoying these natural spaces, especially on beaches such as Torio, Arrimadero, and other high-traffic areas. Among the main recommendations are to observe the color of the flags placed on the beaches, check if there are lifeguards and security personnel, and heed the warnings from the authorities. Likewise, security forces reiterated the importance of avoiding the consumption of alcoholic beverages when in rivers and beaches, as this practice considerably increases the risk of accidents and emergency situations. Arturo González, from Sinaproc in Veraguas, reported that permanent surveillance will be maintained on the mentioned beaches with the support of the National Police, the Fire Department, and specialized units for emergency care. However, he clarified that this coverage will not extend to all beaches in the province. In this regard, González emphasized that it is essential for people, before entering the water, to verify if the area has the assistance of these entities, in order to prevent incidents and ensure safe recreation during the summer season.
