Panama Issues High UV Radiation Warning

Panamanian authorities warn of high UV levels this weekend, offering advice on sun protection and potential heavy rain.

The Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology of Panama (IMHPA) reiterated the call for prevention to reduce risks during the weekend. Authorities warn that high levels of UV-B radiation can cause skin burns in a short time, as well as eye damage and heat strokes, especially for people who remain exposed to the Sun for long periods, such as those attending beaches, rivers, or outdoor activities. Recommendations: Avoid direct exposure to the Sun from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Use sunscreen, UV-filtering glasses, and appropriate clothing. Be alert to possible significant rainfall. The Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology of Panama (IMHPA) issued a watch advisory for this Saturday, February 14, and Sunday, February 15, 2026, due to high levels of ultraviolet UV-B radiation and the presence of significant rainfall in various parts of the country. Stay constantly hydrated. Seek shade and cool spaces.
