In one week, Panama recorded 1,093 dengue cases, including 4 severe ones. Authorities are fighting the spread of the disease, urging the population to eliminate mosquito breeding sites.

Between February 15-21, 2026, a cumulative total of 1,093 dengue cases have been recorded nationwide. Of this total, 965 are non-severe cases, 124 present warning signs, and 4 correspond to severe dengue. The statistics show that the Metropolitan Region leads the list with 291 cases, followed by Colón with 123, San Miguelito with 115, Bocas del Toro with 112, and Panamá Oeste with 106. However, the highest incidence rate is recorded in young people aged 15 to 19, with 28.8 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. The national incidence rate is reported at 23.2 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. In response, the Ministry of Health maintains operations nationwide, supported by the Vector Control team and health promotion strategies, aiming to reduce case numbers. Authorities reiterate to the public the importance of eliminating mosquito breeding sites inside and around homes by disposing of cans, bottles, tires, and any container that accumulates water, as well as covering storage tanks or containers. Symptoms of dengue include fever, headache, general malaise, muscle aches, and eye pain. The fight against dengue continues in the country. Regarding the most affected areas, the districts with the highest number of cases are 24 de Diciembre (54), Tocumen (53), Las Garzas (44), Belisario Frías (43), Bocas del Toro (34), and Puerto Caimito (31). The data also indicates that the age groups of 35 to 49 years (202 cases) and 25 to 34 years (195 cases) account for the largest number of infections, representing 36% of the total. Authorities recommend not self-medicating and to go to a health center at any suspicion of the disease.
