With the aim of executing specific plans and programs for the prevention, care, and rehabilitation of victims of sexual exploitation in the province of Colón, the first ordinary session of the Mirror Subcommission was held. The meeting was presided over by the superior prosecutor of Colón and Guna Yala, Dilsa Donado, in her capacity as the acting president of the Mirror Subcommission of Colón. Donado highlighted that in the province of Colón, between 2024 and 2025, 897 criminal news reports for sexual crimes have been generated, which are distributed as follows: 472 complaints in 2024 and 425 in 2025. It is estimated that there is a reduction in crimes in the year 2025, although it must be specified that there are people who, for various reasons, do not file the corresponding complaint with the Public Ministry. Donado pointed out that children, adolescents, young women, and people with disabilities constitute the population in a situation of social vulnerability against sexual crimes. During the meeting, the commissioners signed the minutes of the first ordinary session. Additionally, the participants shared their experiences regarding cases of sexual crimes they have attended to in the province of Colón and Guna Yala, highlighting that it is a topic that requires the support of institutions, the community, and the family. The event was attended by the vice governor of the province of Colón, Marysin Cedeño, and representatives of various state entities.
