According to Dino Mon Vásquez, with this system it will be much more difficult to alter records, even by personnel within the institution. They seek to curb irregularities. The Social Security Fund (CSS) stated that these stricter controls aim to guarantee the proper management of medications, preventing losses and ensuring that supplies reach the patients who truly need them. The general director of the CSS, Dino Mon Vásquez, pictured above, explained that the institution detected irregularities in the handling of medications and immediately notified the authorities. "This worries us, as essential medications have been going missing. We are working to identify the leaks and correct errors in the orders," he said. The CSS filed a criminal complaint with the Public Prosecutor's Office for the alleged theft and loss of medicines in the province of Chiriquí. They implement a system to prevent losses. As part of the control measures, the CSS has implemented the SALMI logistics platform in 32 executing units. Following the alert, authorities launched an investigation to find those responsible for this incident, which directly impacts both patients and the public health system. This tool allows for improved storage, control, distribution, and traceability of medicines, recording every movement and reducing the possibility of internal manipulation.
