Panama - After several hours of intense searching and moments of anguish, 74-year-old Jerónimo Eliecer Calvo Pinto was found safe and sound. He had been reported missing in the province of Los Santos. The man, who suffers from Alzheimer's, was found after wandering through various areas, even after getting on a bus, a situation that had significantly expanded the search radius and generated great concern among his relatives and authorities. Since the alert was activated, units of the National Police, the Fire Department and the National System of Civil Protection (Sinaproc) deployed operations in different points such as San Agustín, the area of the pigsties, the La Villa river dam, Santa Ana and the salt flats, in a joint effort to locate him. Upon being located, the elderly man was transferred to receive medical attention and subsequently handed over to his family, putting an end to hours of uncertainty. The authorities reiterated the call to the public to immediately report any similar cases and to take extreme care measures with people in vulnerable conditions, especially older adults with diseases like Alzheimer's.
