Residents of San Miguelito unanimously rejected the proposed increase in municipal taxes by Mayor Irma Hernández. They expressed their discontent, claiming that the measure would significantly affect their finances amid the current economic crisis.
"We are against this tax increase, as citizens are going through difficult times due to the pandemic. An increase in municipal taxes would only worsen our financial situation," stated a neighbor during the community meeting.
The inhabitants of San Miguelito are requesting a direct dialogue with the mayor to discuss alternatives that do not negatively impact the budget of local families. They believe it is necessary to find solutions that do not fall exclusively on the citizenry but rather promote sustainable and equitable development for all sectors of the population.
