The former Panamanian official Adolfo "Chichi" De Obarrio, implicated in numerous corruption cases in his country, was convicted in the high-profile Blue Apple case. Recently, the ambassador of Panama in Italy has expressed his willingness to negotiate a treaty that would facilitate the extradition of De Obarrio to face justice in Panama.
This action is part of the efforts of Panamanian authorities to bring to justice individuals linked to acts of corruption. The ambassador in Italy has indicated that the extradition of De Obarrio would be possible under an extradition treaty between both countries.
Regarding this issue, the ambassador mentioned: "We are in the best disposition to say that through diplomatic means, it would be possible to achieve that objective of Panamanian justice." In this way, the possibility opens up for Adolfo "Chichi" De Obarrio to answer for the charges against him in his country of origin.
