Prosecutor's Office declares illegal appointment of rector

The Attorney General's Office has declared the appointment of Nicolasa Torreros as rector of the Specialized University of the Americas (Udelas) illegal. According to the Attorney General's Office, the University Electoral Council of Udelas exceeded its regulatory powers and violated the principle of strict legality.

The statement is based on the fact that the Electoral Council acted beyond its competencies by appointing Torreros as rector, thereby violating the principles established in the law. The Attorney General's Office has pointed out that decisions made must strictly adhere to what is established by current regulations, which would not have been respected in this specific case.

Regarding this situation, the Attorney General's Office has emphasized that the Electoral Council must adhere to what is determined by law to avoid situations of this nature that undermine the legality of administrative acts. For its part, the appointment of Nicolasa Torreros as rector of Udelas has been declared null and void.
