President Mulino evaluates projects in Bocas del Toro

The president of Panama, José Raúl Mulino, visited Isla Colón to address critical issues such as water, health, and tourism. The importance of infrastructure projects and continuous attention was emphasized.


The President of the Republic, José Raúl Mulino, along with authorities from his cabinet, made a visit to the province of Bocas del Toro to address various aspects such as water, waste, roads, health, tourism, and the environment. During his tour, the President met with local authorities in Isla Colón to discuss issues such as the maintenance of the wastewater treatment plant, with the goal of improving its operation.

In the meeting, President Mulino expressed the importance of evaluating ongoing projects for the development of the province, mentioning the creation of a health center, a water treatment plant, tourism development, and waste management, as well as improving the conditions of landfills in the region. Emphasizing the priority of water for his government, the President committed to addressing pending projects in Isla Colón, highlighting the need to focus efforts on improving water production facilities.

During the visit, a garbage collection truck was delivered through the Urban and Domestic Cleaning Authority, and the Idaan water treatment plant and the B Phase bypass managed by the Ministry of Public Works were inspected. Concerns raised by local representatives were addressed, such as the completion of the bypass to boost tourism, improvements in emergency services, and the simplification of procedures in the region.

Additionally, there was advocacy for revitalizing the local economy through the promotion of activities during the high season, the regulation of speed at buoys for maritime safety, the creation of tourist infrastructure, and collaboration with entrepreneurs to promote joint development. Various local representatives expressed specific needs in areas such as transportation, tourism, health, and medical resources.

At the end of the visit, President Mulino received a plaque in appreciation for his presence in the province. Ministers and directors from different entities related to the discussed issues accompanied the President on the visit, demonstrating the government's interest and commitment to improving the quality of life and development in Bocas del Toro.
