Discussion of reforms to the CSS in Panama suspended

The deputy of the Democratic Revolutionary Party (PRD), Raphael Buchanan, has expressed his doubts about the proposal to establish a tripartite table to analyze the reforms to the Social Security Fund (CSS). The discussion on these reforms has been suspended following a confrontation between Pérez Barboni and Buchanan. During the session in the National Assembly, Raphael Buchanan expressed his concerns regarding transparency and the possible conflicts of interest that could arise from creating this tripartite table. He also pointed out that the proposal could hinder the normal course of the discussion on CSS reforms in the full Assembly. In response to Buchanan's statements, deputy and member of the Budget Commission, Benicio Robinson, stated that they are not seeking to hinder the process, but rather to ensure a broader and more inclusive discussion. Robinson explained that the intention of creating this tripartite table is to include the participation of different sectors to enrich the analysis of the reforms. Given this scenario, it has been decided to postpone the discussion of the CSS reforms until the differences between the deputies are resolved. This situation reflects the importance and sensitivity of the issues related to social security in Panama, which require a broad and deep debate to achieve consensuses that benefit the entire population.
