Minister of Education Opposes Teacher Strike in Panama

The Minister of Education, Lucy Molinar, opposed the possibility of a labor strike called by teachers' unions in protest of the reforms to the Social Security Fund (CSS). Molinar stated that there are no reasons to support the suspension of classes and warned that any interruption would have a direct impact on students, especially on their education.

According to the minister, the priority should be to ensure the well-being and educational development of students, which is why she urged the unions to find other ways to express their demands without harming the educational process. In this sense, Molinar emphasized the importance of maintaining stability in the educational system and ensuring that students receive the necessary education for their growth and learning.

In her statement, the minister urged teachers to keep the dialogue as a means to resolve differences and find solutions that benefit the entire educational community. Additionally, she reiterated her commitment to education in Panama and her willingness to work together with the unions to continue improving labor and educational conditions in the country.
