Attempts to notify one of the accused extended even to Colombia, but his whereabouts could not be determined.

The Odebrecht case continues to be one of the largest corruption scandals in Panama's history, with revelations indicating that the Brazilian construction company paid over $96 million in bribes to Panamanian officials and intermediaries in exchange for state contracts between 2009 and 2014.

With the suspension, the trial that was set to begin next week is now on pause until January 2026, further extending the long wait for a final verdict in this landmark corruption case.

According to the First Liquidator Court of Criminal Cases, the highly anticipated Odebrecht trial, scheduled for this Tuesday, November 11, has been suspended and rescheduled for January 12, 2026.

The new date is due to the fact that it has still not been possible to locate or notify one of the defendants in the criminal case against former ministers and businessmen on charges of money laundering.

The Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office continues to investigate crimes against the economic order, related to embezzlement and corruption of public officials.
