The early hours of this Saturday were tragic in the Colón province, with two homicides occurring in the Puerto Pilón district, within a span of less than 30 minutes. The first case took place in the Villa Luisa community, where gunshots were heard around 2:00 a.m. Upon arrival, the body of a man was found on one of the internal streets with clear signs of a firearm attack. The victim was identified as "Luchín," and his body was covered with a sheet while awaiting the arrival of authorities. National Police personnel cordoned off the area to preserve the scene, and the intervention of the Public Ministry is expected to lift the body and subsequently transfer it to the judicial morgue in the city of Colón. So far this year, more than 90 people have lost their lives in the region due to violence. Just 30 minutes later, a second homicide was recorded in the Punta Azul community, also in Puerto Pilón. This information still needs to be confirmed by the judicial authorities. As in the first case, the National Police cordoned off the scene, and it is being investigated whether both murders are related. The rapid succession of these crimes highlights the growing concern about violence in the Atlantic Coast region, which continues to be one of the main hotspots of insecurity in the country. Authorities have initiated the corresponding investigations to clarify both incidents and find those responsible. Once again, gunshots were heard, and when authorities arrived, they found a person lying on the ground. It was a man, who was preliminarily identified as Jorge Lewis, known as "Cholín".
