Former President of Panama Ricardo Martinelli warned on Monday about a fraudulent scheme using his image to promote a fake investment platform. Via his Instagram account, Martinelli stated that he has no connection to the video and was not the one who uploaded it. “I am not responsible for this false content; it is a fraud or scam,” warned the former head of state. He added that the video was created using artificial intelligence. The material claims that an investment of $100 can yield weekly profits of $2,000, which is completely false information. Furthermore, the fake video asserts that thousands of Panamanians over 40 are quitting their jobs and retiring early thanks to the launch of a supposedly government-backed financial platform.
