The General Comptroller's Office of the Republic of Panama reported that after a thorough review process, an economic damage exceeding $52 million was identified, related to the economic aid granted by IFARHU. Due to these irregularities, the institution will deliver 2,860 audits today to the Public Prosecutor's Office to initiate the corresponding processes. The announcement was made by the Comptroller General, Anel Flores, who stated that the technical team analyzed more than 4,000 files, which allowed determining inconsistencies in the administration of state funds. The official expressed his hope that the Public Ministry will carry out the necessary procedures to recover the money that belongs to the Panamanian state. "We trust that responsibilities will be identified and that those who have misused these resources will face the legal consequences," declared Flores. The Comptroller also announced that next week, 18 additional audits related to the handling of decentralization funds in different community boards will be delivered. Furthermore, audits derived from the request of the Ministry of Economy and Finance regarding the use of $6.9 million will be initiated, with the aim of guaranteeing transparency and control in the execution of the state budget.
