The hearing for the guarantees of the detainees in Operation Nodriza began this Thursday with a strong police deployment guarding the 14 individuals apprehended allegedly linked to a structure dedicated to international drug trafficking.
The accused arrived at around 10:30 in the morning, heavily escorted by tactical units, police intelligence, and special operations personnel.
Their transfer came after an investigation that the Public Ministry has been developing since 2023, during which this organization is said to have moved drugs in vehicles with double bottoms and boats that were subsequently seized during different raids.
The Drug Prosecutor's Office indicates that the network also hid illicit substances within Panamanian territory to later package and send them to other countries in the region, with a possible final destination in the United States.
During this proceeding, it is expected that the Public Ministry will present the evidence it considers sufficient to link the accused to the criminal structure that, according to the investigation, has been operating for two years.
Authorities confirmed that 14 people have been apprehended since the beginning of the operation.
