Panamanian President José Raúl Mulino held a meeting with Paraguayan President Santiago Peña yesterday to discuss the agenda for the upcoming MERCOSUR summit, where Panama already participates as an associate state with the goal of becoming a full member soon. Both leaders discussed the progress of this bloc's integration, considered the fifth largest economy in the world, and the interest of countries like Brazil, Paraguay, and Argentina in using Panama's logistical potential to efficiently access other markets. They also addressed international security and the fight against organized crime. Additionally, the president was received by King Harald V at the Royal Palace in Oslo yesterday. During this meeting, the leaders discussed the importance of democracy in the Americas and the situation in Venezuela. It is worth noting that Mulino and First Lady Maricen Cohen de Mulino attended a private ceremony in honor of the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize winner, María Corina Machado, held in Oslo, Norway. The event was attended by heads of state and political leaders from various countries. The joint audience also included Presidents Javier Milei (Argentina), Santiago Peña (Paraguay), and Daniel Noboa (Ecuador).
