Panama: Police Officer Killed in the Line of Duty

Panamanian authorities have condemned the attack on a police officer that resulted in his death. According to the National Police, the incident occurred in the Calzada Larga area after patrol units received an alert about two individuals on a motorcycle firing shots in the air. The officers ordered them to stop, but the individuals ignored the command and struck the police officer, causing his death. Minister of Security Frank Ábrego stated that crime will know no mercy, and anyone who attacks a police officer will be tracked, identified, and brought to justice. He expressed full support for the security forces, who serve Panama with honor and courage. The institution strongly repudiates these acts of violence and disrespect towards its members, who risk their lives daily to protect the public.
