The U.S. Department of Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has imposed economic sanctions on the company Talent Bridge, S.A., which allegedly maintains ties with a supplier that provides security equipment to the Panamanian state. This measure was taken by OFAC. According to OFAC's statement, the company is linked to a transnational network that recruits former Colombian military personnel to fight in the civil war in Sudan. Talent Bridge, based in Panama, was previously known as Global Staffing, S.A. According to U.S. authorities, this was an attempt to minimize legal exposure and hide links to the Colombian recruiting company. Global Staffing signs contracts and receives funds on behalf of the Colombian firm. Talent Bridge is controlled by Jack Peter Derman Guzmán, who serves as president, treasurer, and legal representative. The management team is completed by Enrique Daniel Palacios Quintanilla (secretary) and Fredy Alejandro López Ocampo (director). These same individuals are linked to another company, Sprintico Corp., which on August 12th directly obtained a $1.6 million contract from the Ministry of Government for the rental of 500 electronic bracelets. Sprintico Corp. (the company favored by the Mingob) also has Derman as president, López as secretary, and Medardo José Rangel Guevara as its treasurer. While Quintanilla is the resident agent for both companies (Talent Bridge and Sprintico Corp.). OFAC's investigation of the designated individuals and entities was conducted in collaboration with the U.S. Customs and Border Protection's National Targeting Center. This measure means that all property and interests in property of the designated individuals that are in the United States or in the possession or control of U.S. citizens are blocked and must be reported to OFAC.
