Three individuals, two aged 22 and one aged 40, linked to the homicide of Edwin Navalo, 41, which occurred in mid-June of this year in the community of Puerto Escondido in Colón, appeared before a guarantees judge to begin their judicial process. On the morning of June 19, Navalo was murdered as he was leaving the community and was intercepted by armed men who ended his life. The initial judicial investigation in this case indicated that these three individuals traveled by car to the Puerto Escondido area, in the district of Cristóbal, where they shot a man with a firearm in a place frequented by people, causing the victim's death. Therefore, on December 16, during operations to conduct searches in the same community (Puerto Escondido), the accused were apprehended to face the judicial process for the crimes of aggravated intentional homicide and illicit association to commit a crime against Navalo. During the hearing, the Regional Prosecutor's Office of Colón also requested the Guarantees Court to legalize the apprehensions and formalize charges against the three men, requests that were admitted. The case is being investigated by the Homicide and Femicide Specialized Unit of the Regional Prosecutor's Office of Colón and Guna Yala. To date, 109 people have lost their lives to violence in the province of Colón.
