Mitradel Conducts 100 Labor Inspections in Herrera and Los Santos in December

The Ministry of Labor and Labor Development (Mitradel) has strengthened its presence in the provinces of Herrera and Los Santos by carrying out 100 labor inspections so far in December. These actions are part of the institutional commitment to safeguard workers' rights and ensure safety and health conditions in the country's productive environments. During the first two weeks of the month, inspection teams were deployed at various workplaces to verify compliance with current legislation. In Herrera, 69 operations were conducted, including 26 labor inspections, 20 on safety, 12 on child labor, and 11 on migration. In Los Santos, 31 supervisory visits were completed. In one instance, authorities detected two Chinese citizens, a man and a woman, who were working without the required permits. In response to this irregularity, the Judicial Secretariat issued the relevant legal provisions to initiate the sanctioning process. Mitradel emphasized that these inspections reflect a coordinated effort that aims not only to penalize violations but also to promote a culture of prevention and formal employment. The Ministry reiterated that it will maintain an active presence in both provinces to ensure that the economic growth of the Azuero region develops under absolute respect for the laws of the Panamanian state.
