The president of the Supreme Court, María Eugenia López, will be in charge of the case after the Supreme Court decided to admit a constitutional amparo filed by former Vice President José Gabriel Carrizo. The action arises in response to the order for the seizure of his assets issued by the Comptroller General of the Republic. The decision places the file in the hands of López, who must analyze the merits of the claim and present a draft ruling to the plenary session, where it will be decided whether the measure that currently keeps properties and assets of the former president under embargo is maintained or lifted. The amparo arises from the resolution signed on October 22, 2025, by Comptroller Anel Flores, which ordered the seizure of farms, bank accounts, deposits, credit cards, safety deposit boxes, and vehicles linked to Carrizo, as part of an investigation for alleged unjust enrichment. In addition to the asset seizure, the resolution includes the retention of any credit or money due to Carrizo from the National Treasury or state entities, thus closing the financial net while the administrative process advances. From the judicial sidewalk, it will now be the plenary of the Court that has the final word. Mónica Anguizola Mariño, wife of his brother José Guillermo Carrizo, would also be involved. María Eugenia López is married to José Agustín Luna Jiménez, who is linked to the Jaén family and the mother of former Vice President Carrizo. The Chiari Jaén family is also related to the Spiegel family, to which the wife of Vice President Carrizo belongs. The connection also extends to the Anguizola family. Magistrate López is also family-related to the Anguizola family through her mother, Mrs. Mélida Arias Anguizola. This constitutes the third connection of López with the family of Vice President Carrizo's brother. Meanwhile, the case continues, with a magnifying glass on Carrizo's management during his term as Vice President of the Republic between 2019 and 2024, and the country attentive to what the supreme court decides. Family is family.
