The Supreme Court of Justice is hearing a petition to release the assets of former Vice President José Gabriel Carrizo. The case is being handled by Judge María Eugenia López, which raises concerns due to her alleged ties to the Carrizo family. It is reported that Judge López is connected to the Carrizo family through her mother, Lydia Jaén de Carrizo, and through her wife, Julieta Spiegel. Furthermore, she is related to the Anguizola family through her mother, Mrs. Mélida Arias Anguizola, and through her husband, José Agustín Luna Jiménez, who is linked to the Jaén family and the vice president's mother. It was previously reported that the Supreme Court admitted a lawsuit against the seizure order issued by the Comptroller General of the Republic on October 22, 2025, for alleged unjust enrichment. This order covers farms, bank accounts, deposits, credit cards, cars, and safety deposit boxes. In this regard, 'the seized sums, as well as the vehicles, must remain at the disposal of the Comptroller General'.
