Panama's President José Raúl Mulino announced this Saturday the invitation from his Paraguayan counterpart Santiago Peña to the signing ceremony of the association agreement between the Southern Common Market (Mercosur) and the European Union (EU). Panama plays in the big leagues, as a facilitator of world trade and integration of the Americas, he said. We are part of the MERCOSUR–EU agreement, one of the largest free trade agreements in the world. Mulino took the opportunity to extol the country's role in this agreement. The signing of this agreement will crown more than two decades of negotiations and contribute to a historic milestone in the relationship between both parties, as well as an unequivocal signal of the bloc's vocation for openness and cooperation, the document states.
