The President of the Republic announced this Thursday the upcoming discussion of a new Organic Law on Education, aiming to update and modernize the Panamanian education system, which has been in effect since 1946. The head of state explained that the initiative seeks to guarantee equitable access to technology, quality training, and development opportunities for all students, both in public and private institutions. It was reported that the reform process will include the participation of teachers, unions, parents, and civil society, in an effort to design an education system that responds to the current needs of the country. Among the objectives of the reform are the updating of study plans, continuous training of teaching staff, and the integration of digital tools to improve teaching and learning. The president emphasized that the new law aims to provide long-term educational stability, ensuring that policies and programs can be maintained for at least 50 years, based on criteria of quality and efficiency. Likewise, he indicated that the reform seeks to reduce educational gaps, promoting equal opportunities and the preparation of young people to face the challenges of the 21st century. The Government reiterated its commitment to guaranteeing a participatory, transparent, and respectful process that will allow building a modern, inclusive, and sustainable education system for the entire country.
